Why does the oil inside the capsule look cloudy?

Why does the oil inside the capsule appear cloudy? It is also very thick and does not flow, why?

A natural, mineral based thickener (Silicon Dioxide) is added to the organic flax oil to prevent capsule leakage and hence to improve the stability of the oil. This addition of silicon dioxide creates a cloudy apperance and higher viscosity, which is normal and not a defect.
